Withermoore's Soul Jar is a quest in Divinity: Original Sin II. It is part of the chronicle Escape from Reaper's Eye. The quest is initiated by speaking with Withermoore in the Forgotten Cell.

Objectives

Quest content may vary based on party choices.

  • We met an undead knight, skewered with a lance and pinned to a wall for centuries on end. Do we help him or leave him?
  • Lord Withermoore's curse is lifted. If we destroy his Soul Jar, he will help us escape the fort.
  • We agreed to help Withermoore. A switch on the courtyard statue leads to the Phylactery Room and his Soul Jar.
Quest complete.

Walkthrough

To remove the Spear of Braccus Rex from Withermoore, a party member must have >=12 Strength, >=1 Telekinesis, or break the spear.

Note: If breaking the spear, the weapon is not retrieved.

Once freed, Withermoore asks the party to find his soul, which was stolen by Braccus Rex. Withermoore's Soul Jar is in the Ancient Passage beneath Fort Joy, which can be accessed by interacting with the courtyard statue in Fort Joy Ghetto at   X: 202  Y: 158  . Once inside the area past the courtyard statue, pull the lever at   X: 211  Y: 661   to open the next door. Using a prison key found in the easternmost room or through picking the lock, open the door in the northernmost room, leading to Fort Joy Prison. At   X: 316  Y: 673  , a party member with enough Wits notices a lever that reveals a hatch beneath the altar. The hatch leads to the Ancient Passage containing five identical 'Withermoore's Soul Jars.' The correct jar is in the northwest corner with the plaque, Here lies Withermoore the Supplicant. The other jars set off traps when interacted with.

Note: The northernmost and southeast soul jars trigger fights, each providing additional XP upon defeating the guardians.

The party can:

1. Destroy the soul jar and free Lord Withermoore (1600 XP).

2. Return the jar to Withermoore (1400 XP).

3. Return to Withermoore with the jar, but refuse to part with it. During dialogue, switch to another party member, and destroy the soul jar (total 2800 XP).

Note: The party may also kill him instead of destroying his soul jar. This grants 200 XP, but looting his corpse results in Withermoore's Girdle.
