The Purged Dragon is a quest in Divinity: Original Sin II. It is initiated by speaking with Slane the Winter Dragon on Dragon's Beach.

Objectives

The sequence and content of quests may vary based on party choices.

Free the Winter Dragon.
Alone on the sand, Slane the Winter Dragon was rotting in chains. The Winter Dragon is invulnerable. Whoever captured it must want it alive.

Heal the freed Winter Dragon.
Slane is now free, but he still seems unwell. The witch Radeka purged Slane. Her Purging Wand may free him.

Bring Radeka's Purging Wand to Slane.
Radeka is dead. We should take the Purging Wand from her corpse.

Speak with Slane the Winter Dragon.
We gave Radeka's Purging Wand to Slane, and he transformed into a lizard.

Look for Slane's help, when the moment comes.
In return, Slane promised to help us in our hour of need.

Quest complete.
If Slane is killed: Slane the Winter Dragon is dead.

Walkthrough

Slane is held captive on Dragon's Beach, located on the eastern shoreline of Reaper's Eye. After destroying the two totems chaining him to the island, Slane reveals he is searching for Radeka's Purging Wand, which was used by Radeka the Witch to steal his Source and capture him. To retrieve the wand, Radeka can be found in a skull cavern near the Dragon's Beach waypoint at   X: 582  Y: 103  .

In the cavern, Radeka is harvesting blood roses. The Purging Wand can be obtained by pickpocketing her or defeating her in combat. If combat ensues, Radeka summons several beetles and Undead to surround the party.

After retrieving Radeka's Purging Wand, the party can offer the item to Slane (+2,100 XP) or refuse to part with it, in which case Slane becomes hostile and initiates combat. In the latter option, defeating Slane grants +6,000 XP and the party retain Radeka's Purging Wand.

To maximize XP (at the expense of the wand), one party member can begin a conversation with Slane. Upon starting the conversation, do not progress the dialogue. Switch to a different party member and attack Slane three times while Slane is still in conversation. Afterwards, switch back to the first party member who is interacting with Slane, and advance the dialogue to offer Radeka's Purging Wand. The party gain +2,100 XP for delivering the wand; however once the conversation ends, Slane is hostile and combat immediately ensues. Defeating Slane grants an additional +6,000 XP but Radeka's Purging Wand is lost.

Alternatively, the party can allow Slane to continue living his life after this quest, in which case he defeats the Shriekers barring passage off the island.

Tutorial

Destroy the two totems holding Slane captive at   X: 578  Y: 160  .
Speak with Slane.
Teleport or walk to the nearby Dragon's Beach waypoint at   X: 582  Y: 103  .
Enter the adjacent cavern adorned with skulls.
Retrieve Radeka's Purging Wand by pickpocketing Radeka or defeating her in combat.
Report back to Slane with Radeka's Purging Wand. Select one of the following options:
1. Offer the wand to Slane (+2,100 XP).
2. Refuse Slane the wand and defeat him in combat (+6,000 XP).
3. Offer the wand while another party member attacks Slane three times (+8,100 XP but the wand is lost in the process).
