Prequel

The Prophecy describes the events leading up to Divine Divinity. After years of absence, the demon king Lord Chaos has returned with the Damned to seek vengeance. The League of Seven, consisting of representatives from seven factions, sealed Chaos in hell during the final battle by forfeiting their lives in sacrificial magic.

However, a piece of Chaos persisted. Before his banishment, he hid a fragment of his soul in the Sword of Lies, which was picked up by a wizard in the final battle. Before Chaos could erode the wizard's mind to possess his body, the wizard sealed himself and the sword in a magical chamber hidden in Stormfist Castle.

The Damned seek the sword to revive Lord Chaos.

Introduction

During the intro cinematic, a male warrior - Lucian - is ambushed by orcs. After a stint of combat, he collapses in a pasture, where a white cat finds him.
