Richard was investigating the Duke's death at Stormfist Castle. Despite reports that he died of a heart attack, Richard believes something else caused his death. After learning about the investigation, File:Icon DD Duke Janus.png Duke Janus hired the Assassin's Guild to dispose of the soldier, causing Richard to hide in the Farmlands.
If killing the assassin 
Crawler, Richard is grateful to have more time to flee before the Assassin's Guild send someone else.
